My photographic approach is photojournalistic and purely documentary in style. I aim to be invisible and silent in your birth space, intimately yet unobtrusively documenting your unique birth story exactly as it unfolds.

There is no posing and no direction, simply highly-emotive, intentional and authentic story-telling, capturing in photo and video all the moments and raw emotions during life's most incredible event that you'll want to remember and cherish forever; birthing and meeting your beautiful baby.

Moments captured are chosen by each client, however usually include your power in labour; support people; details within your birthing space; baby's delivery; your ecstatic ‘I did it’ moment; the raw emotions of meeting your baby for the very first time; baby's first feed, measurements, meeting siblings/other family members for the first time; and all the cuddles and quiet, intimate moments as a new family.

Birthing hormones work best when the mother feels private, safe and unobserved, and I strongly believe in preserving and ensuring an undisturbed and intimate birth space. This is why I prefer using non-flash photography relying on my highly-skilled low-light techniques, to ensure my presence doesn't alter or affect the ambience and experience of your birth. "

'On-call' means I am available for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until your baby is born. I stay locally in Sydney, I don't go on any holidays, I have my nanny booked to take my kids if need be, and I ensure I am ready to drop everything to attend a birth at any moment.

So, if a client needs me at 3.03am, I will immediately respond and attend their place of birth to begin documenting their story.

What does 'on-call' mean?

Everyone is unique and has different preferences, so I always tailor my photographic approach to each individual clients requests. In our catch up, we will discuss in detail what you feel comfortable with. and what you may not want captured. Some clients request no nudity, some request nothing too graphic, and others want all the details. I will always respect my clients wishes and requests.

What if I don't want certain things captured?

That's perfectly fine with me. In fact, I encourage it!

As a non-flash photographer, I have invested in the best-quality professional equipment that allows me to capture high-quality footage in the darkest of environments. I can rely purely on ambient light within the room (ie candles,  fairy-lights, or a dim lamp), but will always ensure lighting is adequate for best results. 

What if I want to birth in the dark?

I promise my clients they will receive their complete gallery within 4 weeks of their birth, although I often deliver before this time. I also send 5-10 edited sneak-peeks to use as a birth announcement within 24hours of baby's arrival.
